New York Times Remakes Jewess Berenice Into Islamic 'Queen of Palestine'

This post was deleted because it stated that The New York Times wrongly identified Berenice, a first century Jewish Judean queen, as "queen of Palestine." In fact, The Times was referring to the character in Racine's play about Titus. It is Racine who refers to Berenice as "queen of Palestine."

Ms. Azoulai comes from an Egyptian Jewish family and one of the themes of her novel, Les Manifestations, deals with the increase in anti-Jewish hostility and serious anti-Jewish incidents , since the end of the 1990s.
