"There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza."

"There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza," says Mathilde Redmatn, the deputy head of the Red Cross in Gaza. Pro-Palestinian groups have insisted there is a humanitarian crisis, in part to justify their support for Gaza Hamas government, blockade subverting flotillas, and other controversial stances.

The article regarding Red Cross: there is no a humanitarian crisis and Mathilde Redmatn Red Cross Official is a false report. I called the ICRC Headquarters and they could not find a Mathilde Redmatn in their directory and said there is no such title as “Deputy Director of Gaza”.

I reported this to other leading Organizations associated with the Red Cross to request they send out an accurate statement in response to that article circulating.

"I called the ICRC Headquarters and they could not find a Mathilde Redmatn in their directory and said there is no such title as 'Deputy Director of Gaza'."

Oooh! Busted! NOT. This is sooo lame it needs a crutch.

Even at that fever swamp Mondoweiss, the commenters have acknowledged that the name Mathilde Redmatn is probably a bad transliteration of the Hebrew for a Red Cross employee by the name of "Mathilde De Riedmatten."

Here is what one commenter suggested:

"The confusion regarding the name is obviously the result of a poor transliteration back from Hebrew. The name appears in the IDF statement as מטילד דה רידמטן – a reasonable Hebrew transliteration of Mathilde De Riedmatten. Silly translator didn’t bother to check original spelling and even sillier media picked it up unquestioningly."

So really the best you got is that somebody at the IRC said something you disagree with. Silly or not, the quote is accurate. Your suggestion that the quote is fabricated -- in your words "a false report" -- is untenable.

As far as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, please. Compared to what's happening to Christians in Iraq? Nigeria? Cut it out.

For the REAL position of ICRC and this lady in particular please read:

For the REAL position of ICRC re-stating that "all sides" must abide by international law -- agreeing with Mathilde as she noted Hamas' rockets are violations, see: www.icrc.org/eng/resources/documents/interview/israel-palestine-interview-281208.htm (The 3rd/4th Geneva Conv's put the blood of Arabs who Hamas uses as Human Shields clearly on Hamas' hands, but not on the hands of IDF soldiers unless you can prove they weren't targeting Hamas or other combatants when Hamas' Human Shields got killed...and the burden-of-proof is on those accusing IDF soldiers.)

Here is even Palestinian-Police website acknowledging that Mathilde works for the ICRC: www.police.ps/en/index.php?mod=article&cat=PoliceNews&article=696

Singe & SandraW are a DISGRACE even to the normally obtuse & dishonest anti-Israel propaganda (historic revisionism) machine which is usually more careful and sly that your OBVIOUS lying that she doesn't even exist, or that ICRC doesn't also blame Hamas. As for pointing out the plight of Gazans, perhaps if their elected Hamas officials tried building up their cities instead of tearing-down Israel's, after breaking Arafat's/Fatah's treaty's, Gazans wouldn't be suffering from both Israel's counter-assaults (right to self-defense) &
Hamas' executions-without-trial for "treason," using their own people as Human Shields, etc.
