On May 18th, Amira Hass wrote on her blog, "Israel allows only food, medicine and detergent into the Gaza Strip". That isn't true!
PalTrade, the Palestinian Trade Center, admits in their report of April, 2009, that Israel allows fuel of all types, wheat and animal feed, and medical EQUIPMENT.
COGAT has an extremely detailed report listing types and amounts of aid each week on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. If Israel is lying about this they should be writing best-selling novels. There are different crossings for food, foods and materials in bulk, and a crossing for people: Erez. Palestinian Arabs are unable to continue their treatment at Israeli hospitals because Hamas took over the Health Ministry in Gaza which had been staffed by Fatah members. This stopped the procedures for patients to be able to enter Israel for treaments.
The following products have crossed into Gaza in April and May: ambulances, candles, generators, blood supply, hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, diapers, reproductive eggs, animal vaccines, equipment to repair the electrical network, cell phone supplies, toiletries, chocolate, candy and live animals for holidays. Truckloads of flowers are quietly being exported just as Israel had promised if the attacks decreased. (Israel has also opened some checkpoints on the West Bank (Judea and Samaria.))
