Excellent and true

Jimmy Carter is well on the way to becoming senile. His past record includes the abortive attempt to free hostages in Iran and his kissing of the terminally ugly Yasser Arafat. Not publicly known is the fact that when Ronald Reagan sent him to greet the recently freed hostages from Iran at a military base in Germany, he was soundly booed and cursed by the hostages. This was never reported because journalists outside the compound heard cheering as Carter entered the building and mistakenly thought the hostages were cheering him. In reality, they were cheering one of their own who approached the former president and called him a "son of a bitch."

Perhaps Jimmy Carter should be awarded the "misplaced or displaced sensitivity of the year award" (not to mention the interesting suggestion that in taking Arab funds both before during and since leaving the Presidency, perhaps he could also be awarded the "long-running mercenary award" of the year, as well.
