Goldstone Commission Members Weigh In

The members of the Goldstone commission -- all who have displayed extreme anti-Israel bias (see, for example "Chinkin's Gaza Letter Reveals Bias, But Also Skewed Facts", "Goldstone Commissioner Suggests Israelis Conditioned to Kill Children" and "The Judges: Israel is Already Guilty") -- are doing 'damage control' to preserve their work, now that Richard Goldstone has retracted the central thesis of their UN investigation and report.
Pakistani human rights lawyer Hina Jilani, professor of international law at the London School of Economics Christine Chinkin and former Irish peacekeeper Desmond Travers jointly released a statement stating that they now find it necessary" to dispel any impression that subsequent developments have rendered any part of the mission's report unsubstantiated." They write:
Calls to reconsider or even retract the report, as well as attempts at misrepresenting its nature and purpose, disregard the rights of victims, Palestinians and Israeli, to truth and justice.
On the contrary. The retraction of a false libel addresses the rights of the victims. But, contrary to what they say, Israeli victims have never been of concern to the commission members.

I've seldom seen a photo of more hopeful self-important fools than these. Perhaps, some future textbook on diplomacy will use this photo as a prime example of self-delusion fueled by the desire to be admired by a consensus of moral midgets.

How many people does it take to cram real facts into a hermetically sealed container so that the truth will never out? Five, it seems, is not enough, or is it because self-delusional fools, bathed in bias and blinded to facts and the truth are not smart enough to contain lies that have a propensity not to be contained.

Again, Israel is put on the defensive. Those on the commission remind me of Hitler's henchmen, or more currently, Ahmad and his minions and Revolutionary Guard generals. What do they have in common? Its obvious. Whether Israel should respond officially to every UN resolution or investigation, is problematic. Yes or no, both have consequences. This is not the main issue now. Goldstone retracted the most damaging part of his report to the UN. It is up to him to pursue it at the UN. But the damage has been done. He will be accused of being bullied by Israel and hits supporters anyway. Israel has made its statement. Forget it and go on. Dwelling just aggravates and opens the wound again. How would the US act I ask, if accused at the UN of crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and now Libya? To : Israel, you are in a state of war.
Handle these allegations, accusations, reports, misinformation and lies accordingly. Dont lose sight as to your real (and harmful) enemies. They are abundant.
