Don Wagner Accuses Israeli Soldiers of Wearing Phalangist Uniforms

Regular visitors to CAMERA's website are familiar with Rev. Dr. Don Wagner, a Presbyterian "peace" activist who has compared Israelis to a "killer-vine" choking a rosebush in his backyard in Chicago.

Wagner is no longer teaching at North Park University in Chicago, but is now at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia. He is still engaged in anti-Israel activism. Speaking at an event in Buffalo a few months ago, Wagner accused Israeli soldiers of wearing Phalangist uniforms and murdering Palestinians at Sabra and Shatilla in 1982.

Ernest Sternberg, a member of the faculty at the University of Buffalo where Wagner was speaking reports at that Wagner said that “most likely many Israelis were in the Phalangists’ military uniforms and they denied responsibility.?

This is a new and novel accusation, Sternberg reports in a Feb. 2 article published by Scholars for Middle East Peace (SPME):

Both the New York Times and Washington Post covered the massacre extensively in late September 1982, and vociferously condemned Israel for its role, but none of the articles states that Israelis themselves had carried out the murders. The Encyclopedia of Genocide and the Encyclopedia of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity contain detailed articles on the massacre, but neither mentions Israelis disguising themselves as Phalangists. The Encyclopedia of the Modern Middle East and North Africa has an entry that is highly antagonistic to Israel, and gives far more attention to it than to the Phalangist perpetrators, yet makes no mention of direct Israeli involvement in the killings.

Rashid Khalidi, author of Under Siege: PLO Decisionmaking During the 1982 War (Columbia University Press, 1986) and no friend of Israel, had extensive access to people on the ground during the 1982 war and to Palestine Liberation Organization leaders and documents, and represented PLO’s position at the time. He, too, makes no mention of Israelis dressing up as Phalangists.

Despite the enormous volume of slander against Israel easily found on the internet, a moderate amount of searching on my part turned up no other instance of this claim. In further searching, it may well pop up, floating on internet sewers. In the meantime, the “Israelis disguised as Phalangists? libel appears to have been invented at the University at Buffalo.

Wagner was speaking at a commemoration of the Sabra and Shatilla massacre organized by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee held on October 22, 2010.

They don't want discrimination against Arabs --no matter what they do-- but they do want to discriminate against Jews by denying the Jews' humanity.

& thus Jew-haters show just how determinedly twisted their logic is. Even when it's apparent to all with functioning brains that Jews cannot have been guilty of something bigots are lying about, bigots simply come up with more lies to tell.

The Left has repeated the massacre mantra of Sabra and Shatilla without a clue to how many civilians were reportedly killed and how that number compared to the massacres of Lebanese Christians by the Palestinians.

The liberal media have a blind spot when it comes to the PLO, the Palestinian Liberation Organization. Far from it being a rag-tag group of extremists, they commanded several divisions who are not only responsible for dragging Israel into the Labanese Civil War but were the major cause of it.

Yassir Arafat, aka Hitler with a kaffeyah, militarized the refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan (who also occupied Judea and Samaria) into a paramilitary organization in 1964, known as the PLO, the Palestinian Liberation Organization. From bases in the camps, Arafat and his Fateh "fedayeen" (as they were affectionately called) attemped to overthrow both the governments of Lebanon and Jordan while also launching attacks on Israel from both countries.

The PLO was fully supported and supplied by the Assad regime on Syria who have had their eyes on making Lebanon part of Syria for decades.

The total number of CIVILIAN casualties inflicted on the Lebanese by the Palestinans and the Syrians over a 26-year period was 300,000 men, women, and children.

Civilians.

The total number of civilian casualties that occurred in the Sabra and Shatilla ARMED MILITARY BASES, not simply, "refugee camps" as the lying Palestinian Arab and liberal media call them, was 210, according to the Red Cross, 300 to 400 according to a UN investigation, and 700, tops, according to the "independent" panel set up to libel Israel and throw Ariel Sharon under the bus.

Seems like only Hamas is allowed to take "revenge" without any world condemnation, while Israel is condemned for killing, in self-defense, nine Turkish-sponsored terrorists posing as "peace activists" providing "aid" - this is a real WAR CRIME if anybody bothered to read the Geneva Convention.

Remember the massacre at Jenin?

The Palestinians reported "thousands of civilians killed" when the actual total was six (6).

Or, the two, identical massacres at Qana? Caused by Hezbollah detonating explosives planted in the building on both occassions.

Getting back to Sabra and Shatilla:

When the israeli army got in to survey the scene, guess what they found?

HUNDREDS OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS CRISS-CROSSING ISRAEL AND LEBANON STOCKED WITH THOUSANDS OF AUTOMATIC WEAPONS, EXPLOSIVES, RPG's, MORTARS, WHITE PHOSPHORUS FLARES, AD DETAILED MAPS OF LEBANESE GOVERNMENT HEADQUARTERS.

The next time that a liberal or a Pally blabbers on about Sabra and Shatilla, remind them that these were military installations with armed combatants.
