BBC Refuses to Remove Anti-Semitic Posting

BBC anti-semitic posting.jpe

The Jerusalem Post reports:

The BBC is refusing to remove a provocative and anti-Semitic message posted on one of its message boards despite a barrage of complaints.

The message was posted on the BBC Radio Web site message board following a discussion about a television program on anti-Semitism that screened on the UK's Channel Four network last week.

The offensive message, left by someone using the alias "Iron Naz," reads: "Zionism is a racist ideology where jews [sic] are given supremacy over all other races and faiths. This is found in the Talmud. There is a law called Baba Mezia which allows jews to lie as long as its to non-jews. Many pro jewish supporters will cringe at this being exposed because they know it exists, yet they keep quiet about it, hey frip, jla and co [the aliases of other people taking part in the discussion]. The Law of Baba Mezia!! Tsk tsk tsk! It's in the Talmud." . . .

The BBC obviously no longer recognizes anti-Semitism even when it slaps it in the face," said Mark Gardiner, head of communications at the Community Security Trust (CST), an organization that ensures the safety and security of the Jewish community and monitors anti-Semitic incidents in the UK. "The BBC is a public body, funded by the British tax payer. It has legal obligations and we will pursue them."

Gardiner added: "It is bad enough that it is up to readers to police what the BBC publish on their own Web sites, but it is far sadder that this public body should actively refuse to remove the filth, and give no explanation for their actions - or perhaps the BBC agree with the essential element of the posting, that Zionism is a racist ideology where Jews are given supremacy over all other races and faiths."

BBC'S DOUBLE STANDARD ON CORRECTIONS:

The BBC's refusal to remove this false, vicious, and unabashedly hateful anti-Semitic web posting comes just one month after the British news organization issued a correction and formal apology for a sports presenter accurately referring in passing to Jerusalem as Israel's capital in a sports report.

As reported by the Jerusalem Post ("BBC sorry for calling Jerusalem capital of Israel," June 15, 2007) :

"The BBC apologized this week for referring to Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and promised not to repeat 'the mistake,' following a complaint by four British organizations. Arab Media Watch, Muslim Public Affairs Committee, Friends of Al-Aksa and the Institute of Islamic Political Thought sent a joint complaint to the BBC after a presenter on its Football Focus program on March 24 mentioned that Jerusalem was Israel's capital and 'historic soul.'"

The Jerusalem Post article also notes that Fraser Steel, head of editorial complaints at the BBC, wrote a letter to the complaining non-governmental organizations in which he said:

"[Presenter] Steve Boulton and other senior managers in BBC Sport told us they very much regret the mistake and apologize for it. I'd like to add my apologies for this most regrettable, but I'm sure accidental, factual mistake. I appreciate that the status of Jerusalem is of particular concern to Palestinians, and it is important that it is not misrepresented. I am confident that lessons have already been learned, and they will be emphasized as a result of my decision."

Sadly, the only lesson the BBC appears to have learned is how to take its longstanding double standard against Jews and Israel to new extremes.

it is a shame that the bbc has a judeophobic, anti-zionist slant.

how very bbc of you not to remove an antisemitic comment. reminds me of when you opted to dump the bible in the trash but not the koran.

Perhaps the BBC is more concerned about offending their Islamic audience. After all, I don't think they have had to worry about being blown up by Jews since they departed from Israel in 1948.

Unless you can find something sincerely nice to say about Israel, your unrelenting criticisms make you irrelevant to the discussion of the problems of the region. There must be something. After all, you don't find as much wrong with Syria, Saudi Arabia, or Iran.

The BBC clearly slants its news regarding Israel and the Jewish people in the negative because it does not want to offend the larger more violent Muslim population.
The BBC draws its inspiration from a former Prime Minister who proclaimed that Hitler could be appeased. We all witnessed how well that strategy worked.
Recent bombings in London only reiterates how well the current strategy is working.

The BBC has been apologizing all week for their fraudulent contest practices. They haven't got time to get the facts straight. They should take a lesson from those Britons that didn't knuckle under to Nazi Bombs and stand up to Islamic intimidation.Well we decided that until they get some fortitude their capital will remain at Wessex on Tyne -Don't like it? You can live with it and maybe Wessex instead ofLondon (Capital of Ireland) will. be bombed

The BBC is still pissed because a hand full of Jews threw them out of Palestine.

F! the BBC. They will perhaps only "get" it when the inevitable happens: Muslim (yes, indeed) terrorists blow up their offices somewhere. But of course, Israel will be to blame for that too.

The BBC has lost their credibility as well as character by surrendering to Islamist pressure groups. If all Britons were so chicken livered, Sharia law would already be in force there. Shame. Where did journalistic integrity go?

Typical BBC treatment of Israel. Remember it said that filming of a 6 year old suicide bomber was an Israeli publicity stunt.

BBC Channel 4 message board had a posting by some nitwit named "Iron Naz". this person spewed vicious nonsense and slandered Jews. I am an American Jew. Why did you not take the comment off the bulletin board? Did you print my comment that stated all Brits are sexual perverts especially those pseudo intellectuals who work for BBC? well, I did not send you any such comment- but if I did, you would not print it. Did you think Iron Naz was truthfuyl? NEXT- why did you apologize profusely to the Militant Arabs for stating truthfully that Jedrusalem is the capital of the State of Israel? iIt really is- go there and visit the Knesset and the other govt buildings. Are you afraid that if you offed these militant Arabs they will blow up the BBC offices? Don't worry- the way things are going, the Muslims will blow up BBC no matter what you say or televise. Good luck in your dreamworld. henry kaminer
